A Fairy Birthday

My granddaughter just celebrated her 4th birthday with a fairy party, and it was a lot of fun. The invitation had this picture her dad took that worked out so well for my layout, The Fairy Queen. The kit is a beautiful one, Faerie Moonlit by Lorie Davison, available at Studio Girls Scrapbookgraphics. The alpha is Binty's Gold Glitter Alpha from Bits2Kits.

Freebie minikit

Today I'm offering a free download of a minikit I created for a challenge at sKrapHappens: Mad for Mojitos. Just click on the image to check it out and download from here.

Here's a layout I did of my granddaughter using the kit: Just Chillin'

Hope you enjoy the minikit, and show me what you've done with it!

Ballet for Alex

My beautiful almost-4-years-old granddaughter is now taking ballet classes and loves it. My wonderful photographer son has given me some photos to use to scrap one of her classes. I think she is just precious! The kit I used is Digital Crea's collab Blossoms of Ice, and the wordart for the title is by Suddenly Artistic. The layout was done for a scraplift challenge, and is based on the layout Friendship by Kazz.

My granddaughter loves to have her face painted. This page shows some of the designs from this past year (photos by her dad, my son). Alex, this is for you!

Combining my hobbies

Today I gave a class on heritage scrapping to other members of the San Diego Genealogical Society. What a fun thing to do to get other people already interested in their heritage to get involved in a complementary hobby--digital scrapbooking! They were great listeners and I hope to see some super heritage pages from them soon. Last week, I taught a beginning German research class at the San Diego Family History Center, which I will repeat in a few months. I will also give a class on Passenger Lists and Immigration at the San Diego Genealogical Society Library in November. The SDGS library has classes on lots of topics, so check out their schedule at their website. If you're interested in the Family History Center's line-up of classes, call them for a schedule: 619-584-7668.

My first post!

I'm excited to finally be publishing a blog that I've wanted to do for some time. I hope you enjoy seeing my scraps, hearing about some of the research on my ancestors that I've been doing, sharing the growing up of our granddaughter, and hearing about our trips here and there. If you're family I'd love to hear from you, especially if you can help add anything to the family history research! If you're friends, welcome, and make yourself at home. Thanks to my online friends Elaine & Darlene for helping to get me started.

On the scrapping front, I recently had the honor to have two of my heritage pages published in Artisan Notebook for January 2010. These are the two pages:
